Local Priorities Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of) Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

The Stockton Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to make residents aware of a recent increase in reports of vehicle interference and theft from motor vehicles within the North Shore Estate, particularly in the area surrounding the Infinity Bridge. Reports indicate that these incidents are predominantly taking place between 00:00 hours and 05:00 hours.

Offenders are believed to be targeting parked vehicles during the early hours of the morning, checking door handles and gaining access to vehicles that have been left insecure. In some instances, items have subsequently been stolen from within vehicles.

We would ask all residents to remain vigilant and take the following preventative measures:

- Ensure all vehicles are locked and secure when unattended.
- Remove valuables from vehicles or store them out of sight.
- Avoid leaving wallets, handbags, mobile phones, tools, keys or other valuable items inside vehicles overnight.
- Consider the use of additional vehicle security measures where appropriate.
- Review any CCTV, Ring doorbell or other security footage if suspicious activity is observed.

We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has been affected by vehicle interference, theft from a motor vehicle, or who may have CCTV footage capturing suspicious individuals or activity within the area between midnight and 5:00am.

If you have information that may assist our enquiries, please report it to Cleveland Police via 101 or through the Cleveland Police website. We would encourage residents to report all incidents, regardless of how minor they may appear, as this helps us build an accurate intelligence picture and direct resources effectively.
