A man has been arrested and charged n connection with a collision where an 8-year-old boy was knocked over on Kipling Road in Hartlepool. The boy was injured at 3:40pm on Friday 24 April, and was taken to hospital with cuts and bruising. Whilst in hospital, he was found to have a fracture to his skull. The boy was discharged from hospital yesterday and is now recovering at home. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged overnight with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving other than in accordance with a licence and leaving the scene of an accident. He is due to appear before Teesside Magistrates’ Court this morning. Inspector Scott Pearson warned of the dangers of off road bikes on our streets, saying: “These bikes plague our community. They are capable of causing serious harm to our communities, and we are committed to identifying those who ride them illegally and putting them before the courts. “We welcome information on those who ride and store them, so that we can seize them from our roads. We won’t tolerate these bikes harassing our communities – not on our streets.” We're coming for those who use illegal bikes to commit crime. | ||
